Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has called on public servants to innovate and strive for excellence in their work, emphasizing that this is crucial for enhancing service delivery and the growth of the state and country.
Hamzat made the call during the Annual Staff Retreat of the Office of the Deputy Governor at Novatel Hotel, Lekki. The event, themed “The Role of Employees in the Turnaround Process of 21st Century Public Services,” served as a platform for staff members to discuss and enhance their skills.
“It’s important that, in whatever role we find ourselves, we must do our best. If everyone takes responsibility for their roles and performs their duties well, this country will thrive,” Hamzat remarked. He further highlighted that mutual respect and kindness are key to fostering national development and promoting harmonious relationships.
The deputy governor also emphasized the importance of adapting to rapid technological advancements such as Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Neural Intelligence, which he believes will shape Nigeria’s future. “We need to understand the future implications of these innovations for the sake of upcoming generations,” he said.
In addition, Mrs. Mobolaji Daba, Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Deputy Governor, thanked Hamzat for supporting the retreat. “This retreat has provided a platform for us to improve our skills and enhance service delivery,” she stated.
Guest Lecturer, Mr. Kehinde Yusuf, urged participants to embrace digital transformation and uphold professionalism in line with the evolving demands of 21st-century public service.
