Curfew Imposed In Governor’s Hometown As Crisis Intensify in Taraba State

Taraba state government has announced a curfew in Takum – the hometown of Governor Darius Ishaku, due to the ongoing crisis between Jukuns and Tivs in the area.

Crisis in the area began after the Jukuns retaliated to the killing of one of their own in his farm by some alleged Tiv militia.

Reports indicate that the curfew was announced after the crisis between the two ethnic groups entered its second day which left many Tiv people killed.

Also, houses worth millions of naira were said to have been destroyed forcing residents to flee from the area to other neigbhouring towns.

Speaking on the incident, Mallam Musa Muhammad, a resident of the Takum village said calm has returned to the town. Muhammad also said that residents have remained indoors as soldiers are patrolling the streets.

Confirming the incident, the Taraba state spokesperson, DSP David Misal said only one person was killed and the situation is under control.
