Governor Ihedioha Sets Up Committee To Address Imo State University Flooding

The governor of Imo state, Emeka Ihedioha has assured students in the state that his administration would offer qualitative education.

The governor gave the assurance when he paid a scheduled visit to Imo State University, Owerri.

Speaking after he was taken on a tour of the facilities in the school, he directed the constitution of a team of Environment Transformation Commission for the university to ensure a clean environment.

He decried the adverse effect of flooding on the campus and said that his administration was committed to uplifting the infrastructural state of the varsity.

He said, “I have come for an assessment of the university, to see the state of infrastructure and facilities. My attention has been drawn to the menace of flood within the campus which I consider a huge threat. I have gone round and seen some buildings submerged by flood.”

“We will arrest the problem of flooding here and in Owerri in general. To this effect, I have directed the Vice-Chancellor to set up a team of engineers in the university to identify the root cause to tackle the issue.

Ihedioha said that he had set up a committee headed by Prof Jude and Prof Viola Oneuliri to address the issues of extortions as raised by the students.

The governor promised to return to the school to address the issues after the committee had submitted their findings.
