Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has deployed his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Yakubu Gowon, and other appointees to mobilise their workers to assist the victims of flooding in the state following a downpour on Monday.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, said Obaseki had promised that more flood control projects had been included in the infrastructure projects in the state to mitigate the impact of flooding in the future.

Osagie said, “The Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties; Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability; General Manager of Edo State Waste Management Board; and heads of related ministries have been asked to move to the flooded areas and assist in the evacuation and open up blocked drainage.”

He called on residents to complement government’s effort by ensuring drainage in their areas were not blocked.

Osagie added, “It is important that residents ensure that drainage and water channels are not blocked, which hinders the free flow of flood water.”
