The Lagos State Government has asked the public to desist from attacking men of the Lagos State Fire Service.

The acting Head, Lagos State Fire Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, stated this while reacting to an attack on some firefighters on Friday on Sam Shonibare Street, Surulere, Lagos.

Adeseye lamented that sustained injuries, on one of the officers, adding that the door of the fire engine was destroyed and the windscreen shattered.

“The gallant officers responded to a distress call and were carrying out their statutory duties when they were attacked by hoodlums at the scene of the fire incident. In order to prevent the breakdown of law and order, the officials refrained and reported at the Surulere Police Division, Area C,” she said.

The fire service boss appealed to members of the public to desist from damaging government properties, saying taxpayers’ money was expended in providing them for the safety of Lagosians.
