Hon. Natasha Osawaru Irobosa, the lover of music icon 2Baba and representative of Egor Constituency, has been removed from her position as Minority Leader in the Edo State House of Assembly.

The decision, announced on Monday, April 7, 2025, comes after the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged as the majority party in the House.

Osawaru, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was ousted alongside another PDP lawmaker, Charity Aiguobarueghian, who lost her position as Majority Leader.

The APC now holds 13 seats in the assembly after several lawmakers defected from both the PDP and the Labour Party, while the PDP’s representation dropped to 11 seats.

Following the changes, new principal officers were appointed from the APC, with Hon. Ibhamawu Jonathan Aigbokhan as the new Majority Leader, Hon. Addeh Emakhu Isibor as Deputy Leader, and Hon. Lecky Hussein Mustapha as Chief Whip.

In a statement, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku emphasized that the leadership changes should not distract the House from its core responsibilities. “The majority and minority positions should not distract us from our collective duty to serve Edo State,” Agbebaku said.

Despite the shake-up, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku and Maria Edeko, retained their positions. This development marks a significant shift in the power dynamics within the Edo State House of Assembly.
