To cushion the hardship currently faced by Katsina State residents due to petrol subsidy removal, Governor Umaru Dikko Radda-led Katsina State Executive Council has approved the sum of N600 million naira for the purchase of 40 additional buses for the State Transport Authority, KTSTA.

Katsina State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Dr Sani Magaji Ingawa, at the end of the State Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Radda, informed newsmen of the cash approval for the buses’ procurement.

According to Dr Ingawa, the buses would be used for inter and intra-city transport services by KTSTA. He also disclosed that some of the buses would be assigned to convey pupils of Katsina primary and secondary schools, as well as students of tertiary institutions.

Notably, the transport fares for utilizing these buses are expected to be more affordable, making travel within and beyond the state capital accessible to a wider range of passengers.
