Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has approved the appointment of 61 additional special aides.

This brings the total number of his appointments to 194.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps, in a release made available to journalists in Jalingo, the state capital.

The new appointments followed the recent release of a list of 123 aides, which included the ex-chairman of Takum Local Government Council, Shiban Tikari.

Tikari had been declared wanted by the State Police Command for his alleged involvement in the abduction and killing of the former member representing Takum One Constituency, Hosea Ibbi. Tikari’s name was subsequently removed following public outcry over his appointment.

Among the new appointees are two members of the Correspondent Chapel of the Taraba State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Justine Tyopuusu and Janet Audu, who report for The Punch and Daily Independent Newspapers, respectively.

In separate interviews, both Tyopuusu and Audu promised to work tirelessly to assist the governor in achieving his set goals and objectives.

The Chapel Chairman, Gabriel Yough, also praised the governor and promised to ensure a cordial working relationship between his administration and members of the Chapel.
