Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire that claimed the lives of 17 students at an Almajiri school in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area on Tuesday, February 5, 2025.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal described the incident as “highly unfortunate” and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
“I’m heartbroken by the tragic fire at Makarantar Mallam Ghali, an Almajiri school in Kaura-Namoda,” said Lawal. “On behalf of the Zamfara State Government, we extend our condolences to the families, the school, and the entire nation as we mourn the loss of these young souls.”
The governor also expressed his wishes for the recovery of those injured in the fire. “During this time of sorrow, may Almighty Allah provide strength and comfort to the grieving families as they navigate this difficult period,” he added.
Governor Lawal promised a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire, assuring that steps would be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. “As a responsible government, we will examine the underlying causes of this fire and ensure measures are put in place to avoid its recurrence,” he noted.
The governor also pledged to provide full support and assistance to the victims’ families during this difficult time.
