Governor Alia Explores Economic Opportunities in Abidjan

Governor of Benue State, Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has recently traveled to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, where he embarked on a mission to explore key economic opportunities for the state.

During his visit, on February 6, 2025, the Governor held a series of important meetings aimed at fostering investment and development for Benue.

One of the highlights of his trip was a meeting with Mr. Jitender Sachdeva, the President of Skipper Group. The two discussed potential renewable energy and investment projects to support Benue’s economic growth.

Governor Alia expressed optimism about the prospects of collaborating with Skipper Group, emphasizing the transformative potential of renewable energy for Benue.

“Our conversation was productive, and we see great potential in working together. We’re excited about the possibility of bringing renewable energy projects to Benue, which could transform not only our state but also set an example for others,” he said.

At the conclusion of their meeting, Governor Alia extended an invitation to Mr. Sachdeva to visit Benue and assess the state’s potential firsthand.

In addition to his discussions with Skipper Group, Governor Alia also met with Senator Muhammed Sani Musa 313, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, and former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State.

The group exchanged valuable insights on strategies for enhancing development across their states. “The exchange of ideas was insightful. We all share a common goal: to improve our states and ensure sustainable development,” Governor Alia remarked. “These conversations are vital in fostering collaborations that can bring lasting change.”

Further advancing his agenda, Governor Alia also met with Dr. Godwin Atser, Country Director of SASAKAWA Africa Association, to discuss innovative agricultural solutions for Benue. The Governor is particularly focused on programs that will empower local farmers and enhance food security.

“Empowering our farmers is crucial for Benue’s development. We are looking into programs that will increase productivity and ensure that our people have access to affordable, nutritious food,” Governor Alia said.

Governor Alia’s mission aligns with his vision of a prosperous, self-sustaining Benue. “We are determined to build a Greater Benue by seizing every opportunity to drive growth, investment, and collaboration,” he concluded.
