Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has praised the exemplary life of Madam Ayebadieye Edward Dorcas Igbeta, the mother of his aide, during a requiem service in her honor at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Nembe, Bayelsa State.
On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Governor Fubara donated N50 million to support the completion of the Cathedral Church in memory of Madam Igbeta, who was a dedicated worshipper at the Cathedral before her passing at the age of 79.
In his tribute, Governor Fubara stated, “We are here as a government to show that in this difficult time, we stand with him. We know that there is no consolation here that can fill the gap of this loss, more especially the loss of a mother.”
He continued, “But, we want to draw his mind to the good Book: that it is the Lord that giveth, and it is also the Lord that taketh.”
Addressing the need for further support, Fubara said, “I have been made to understand that the Cathedral will need strong support. We are going to support the completion of the cathedral in memory of mama with the sum of 50 million.”
