The Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced an expansion of the Red Line Rail Service, aimed at improving commuting options for residents of the state. Starting today, the service will offer five morning trips and four evening trips daily, a significant increase from the previous two morning trips.

With the total journey time between Agbado and Oyingbo now reduced to just 50 minutes, residents can enjoy faster and more efficient transportation. Additionally, waiting times at each station have been cut to just two minutes, further enhancing the convenience of daily travel.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed his enthusiasm for the development, saying, “This milestone reflects our commitment to improving mobility across Lagos. The addition of new trips will alleviate congestion and make commuting easier for our citizens, ensuring that they can get to their destinations on time, every time.”

In a further boost to the service, three new train sets will be introduced, increasing the Red Line’s capacity and solidifying its role in the state’s integrated transport system.

“The Red Line isn’t just a train service—it’s a game-changer for commuting in Lagos,” the governor continued. “We are building a city where connectivity drives economic growth and improves the quality of life for all residents.”

The expansion of the Red Line is a key component of the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation infrastructure, contributing to the goal of creating a more efficient, reliable, and sustainable transport network for the people of Lagos.
