The spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, Olawale Rasheed, on Thursday dismissed reports claiming the local government elections scheduled for Saturday would be postponed, calling them “fake news.”
In a statement issued from Osogbo, Rasheed urged the public to ignore the misleading reports. He emphasized, “There is no election postponement. The fake news is the handiwork of the opposition desperately seeking the backdoor for power acquisition.”
Rasheed also highlighted that Governor Adeleke recently conducted a state broadcast, urging voters to peacefully participate in the elections. “Governor Ademola Adeleke has just conducted a state broadcast in which he urged voters to peacefully vote for their chosen candidates on Saturday,” Rasheed said.
Furthermore, the Osun State Electoral Commission has assured the public of its readiness for the election, confirming that all necessary arrangements for a successful election have been made.
“The public should ignore merchants of lies as the election goes ahead as scheduled,” Rasheed concluded.
