The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in the Osun State Local Government elections, securing all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state.
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) conducted the elections on Saturday, and the newly elected chairmen were presented with their certificates of return.
In a statement, OSIEC Information Officer Sadiat Isiaka revealed that the Chairman of the Commission, Hashim Abioye, congratulated the elected officials, urging them to serve as good ambassadors of democracy. “The newly elected chairmen must be good ambassadors of democracy, both in conduct and service to the people,” Abioye said.
PDP’s Osun State Chairman, Sunday Bisi, commended the electorate for their peaceful participation, despite challenges. “The heroes of democracy are the voters who exercised their rights despite the harassment by compromised security agents,” Bisi remarked, expressing delight over the peaceful conduct of the election.
The Osun PDP chapter also praised the electorate for standing firm against attempts to disrupt the process, calling it a victory for democracy.
