Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has awarded a total of N6 million to the best graduating students of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, as part of his commitment to fostering academic excellence.
At the combined convocation for the 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024 academic sessions, Abiodun, represented by Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, emphasized the state government’s dedication to providing high-quality education.
“We remain committed to delivering global-standard education from primary schools to higher institutions in Ogun State,” said Abiodun. “Our government understands that quality education and innovation are vital for sustainable development.”
In addition to the Governor’s award, OGITECH management presented N200,000 each to the three best graduating students. Abiodun praised the institution for its role in producing a skilled workforce that contributes to the state and nation’s growth.
“The quality of education at OGITECH strengthens our commitment to technical and vocational education as a catalyst for national development,” he added.
The convocation lecture, delivered by Prof. Ramon Bello, highlighted the ongoing industrial revolution and its implications for Nigeria’s industrial future. He urged the graduands to adapt to the changing landscape of Industry 5.0.
Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, the Rector of OGITECH, emphasized the institution’s focus on both academic knowledge and hands-on skills to prepare students for global success.
In his valedictory speech, the best graduating student of the 2023/2024 session, Ismail Olamilekan, urged his peers to remain determined and focused in the next chapter of their lives, stating, “This day marks the end of a phase but also the beginning of new opportunities.”
Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the wife of the Governor, was also honored with an Honorary Fellowship award at the ceremony.
