In a recent public address, Senate President Godswill Akpabio extended a cordial invitation to Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, urging him to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akpabio praised Otti for his efforts in transforming Abia State and for his act of honoring Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, despite political differences.
During a 70th birthday celebration for Abaribe, Akpabio remarked, “Otti’s decision to honor Abaribe despite political differences shows he understands politics and has endeared himself to the people of Abia.” He further added, “The day you join the APC, you will hear my full praise and see how I will celebrate you.”
Akpabio also lauded Abaribe for his integrity and courage, especially in his controversial decision to stand as surety for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Governor Otti, in his speech, emphasized that the event was not politically motivated, stating, “This celebration is not politically motivated. I am committed to honoring Abians who deserve recognition.”
He also downplayed speculation about his political future, saying, “Some people claim I went to London for meetings — we have been holding meetings right here.”
Otti’s praises of Abaribe were echoed in his assertion that the celebration was a recognition of Abaribe’s courage and selflessness.
