Senate President Godswill Akpabio has revealed that he attended the wedding of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and even spent the night at the Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, due to poor lighting at the state’s airport.
Akpabio made this known during plenary at the National Assembly, emphasizing his close relationship with Natasha’s husband.
“I slept in Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, on the night of Senator Natasha’s wedding because the Kogi airport lights were in a poor state,” Akpabio stated.
The Senate President’s remarks come amid controversy surrounding Natasha’s recent six-month suspension by the Senate. The Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions Committee had recommended the suspension, citing “disrespect to the Senate.”
Despite the political tensions, Akpabio’s presence at the wedding signals his personal ties to Natasha’s family. The Senate’s decision, however, has sparked debates, with some questioning the fairness of the disciplinary action against the Kogi Central senator.
