The Gwaram Local Government Council in Jigawa State has provided 600 male orphans with new clothes in preparation for the upcoming Sallah celebration. The council purchased 100 bundles of fabric for distribution across the area.
Prof. Abdurrahman Lawan, the council chairman, emphasized the importance of the initiative to ensure orphans can celebrate joyfully. “Our goal is to make sure that the orphans have a memorable Sallah celebration just like other children,” he stated. The council has also allocated N600,000 to cover the cost of sewing the garments.
In addition to the clothes, the council distributed food items, including 36 bags of pasta, four sacks of millet, and four sacks of maize, to the 76 village heads in the region.
Lawan expressed that this effort is part of their commitment to the welfare of the most vulnerable members of their community, adding that the council also provided garments for orphan girls.
Auwal Adamu, the District Head of Fagam (Katikan Dutse), praised the council’s initiative, noting, “This donation aims to alleviate food insecurity and promote economic empowerment within the community.”
