The ongoing political battle between Governor Ademola Adeleke and former Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has intensified following a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accusing Oyetola of financial misconduct.

The $20 million fraud allegations made by Adeleke have sparked fierce debates, with both sides presenting conflicting claims.

Adeleke, in his petition submitted to the EFCC, accused Oyetola of money laundering and breaching procurement laws. He claimed that Oyetola’s administration mismanaged state funds, particularly in the renovation of primary healthcare centers.

“Rather than follow due process, the former governor unilaterally awarded contracts without competitive bidding, violating procurement laws,” said Kolapo Alimi, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment in Osun State.

However, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated.

Kola Olabisi, the APC Media Director, criticized Adeleke’s actions, calling them an attempt to tarnish Oyetola’s reputation. “This is a politically driven move to settle scores after failing to take control of local government councils,” Olabisi stated.

The Osun government has vowed to pursue justice and accountability, asserting that the petition is grounded in a thorough investigation. “A responsible government does not ignore this level of financial recklessness and fraud,” Alimi emphasized.
