Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has called for the establishment of a Nigerian Air Force base in the state to enhance security and aviation development.

Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the Chief of Air Staff led by Air Vice Marshal Enebong Effiom, Abiodun emphasized the need for a stronger security infrastructure in Ogun, positioning the state as Nigeria’s industrial hub.

Governor Abiodun stated, “My desire is not just to have the Air Force at the airport but to establish an Air Force base here in Ogun State.” He also advocated for the creation of an Air Force school in the state, aiming to inspire the next generation of Nigerians to pursue military careers.

“We believe that considering the fact that we have the Nigerian Army in Abeokuta, the Police, and the Nigerian Navy School here, we also need the Nigerian Air Force,” Abiodun added.

In addition, the governor offered to provide a model school for setting up the Air Force base to reduce setup costs, showcasing his commitment to the initiative. He reassured the delegation, “Whatever we can do to support that initiative, you can take it for granted.”

The governor also announced plans to immediately deploy Air Force personnel at the state’s airport, as part of his broader strategy to strengthen security and develop infrastructure to support both the aviation sector and regional economic growth.
