The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored bulk power supply to the Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies, resolving the significant power shortage affecting Lagos State.
In a statement released on Tuesday, TCN’s Director of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, confirmed that the restoration followed the completion of repair work on the 330-kilovolt Osogbo-Omotosho transmission line, which had been damaged between towers 420 and 422.
The repair, completed on March 15 at 8:55 pm, effectively addressed a major fault that had reduced the state’s electricity supply by approximately 350 megawatts.
Mbah emphasized that the restoration stopped the load shedding that had been caused by the transmission line fault. “The repair addressed a line snap, restoring lost power and resuming normal bulk transmission,” she said.
The outage had severely impacted electricity distribution across Lagos, but TCN’s timely intervention has now ensured the resumption of normal service.
Mbah also expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government, the distribution companies, and residents for their cooperation during the period of load shedding.
