President Bola Tinubu has convened with Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, Rivers State’s new Sole Administrator, following his declaration of a state of emergency in the state.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding a meeting with Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), the newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State, at the State House in Abuja.
The meeting comes just hours after the president announced a state of emergency in the state, aiming to resolve the ongoing political crisis.
According to reports, after the state of emergency was declared, Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy Governor, Ngozi Odu, were suspended, with Vice Admiral Ibas appointed to oversee the state’s affairs.
Although the purpose of the meeting has not been publicly confirmed, sources suggest it may be linked to the turbulent political situation in Rivers State.
Vice Admiral Ibas arrived at the State House at 12:50 pm, joining President Tinubu for a crucial discussion on the state’s future. This comes amid rising tensions and calls for a resolution to the crisis in the region.
In related news, former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has demanded that Fubara take the necessary steps for peace to return to the state, asserting, “For peace to return, the governor must do the right thing.”
