Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has voiced strong support for suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing her as a “trooper” whose courage and endurance have inspired millions.
In a heartfelt open letter posted on X (formerly Twitter), Ezekwesili lauded the Kogi Central Senator’s strength and resilience in the face of political adversity, following her suspension from the Nigerian Senate.
“Not only your trusted and loyal Kogi Central Constituency stands with you… There are millions of reasonable Nigerians and other people around the world who are inspired by your strength of conviction,” Ezekwesili wrote.
She demanded that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension be reversed and that she be granted a fair hearing, emphasizing that the embattled senator has the right to remain in office.
“You have no reason to be outside your office as a legitimately elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Ezekwesili stated. “Your unjust suspension must be immediately terminated… so you resume duties to your people and the nation.”
She concluded the letter with an encouraging message:
“You. Can. Never. Walk. Alone… You are a trooper!”
The letter comes amid public outrage over Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension, which many view as politically motivated. The Senate has yet to respond to growing calls for her reinstatement.
