Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the disbursement of an additional N200 million for the payment of gratuities to retirees in the state.
This development was announced on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti by the Permanent Secretary of the Pension Transition Arrangement Department, Mr. Francis Omotoso, who described it as another step toward clearing pension arrears inherited from previous administrations.
According to Omotoso, “The newly released funds will be used to settle gratuities for state government pensioners up to July 2015.”
He emphasized that the move aligns with the governor’s “continuity and shared prosperity agenda,” reaffirming Oyebanji’s dedication to retirees’ welfare.
“The approval is another significant step towards offsetting the backlog of outstanding gratuities and other entitlements of retirees,” Omotoso added.
He also urged eligible beneficiaries to proceed to the PTAD Office at the Old Governor’s Office for documentation in preparation for cheque collection.
So far, the Oyebanji-led administration has disbursed over N7.2 billion in gratuity payments within 30 months, a feat that underscores its commitment to resolving pension-related liabilities in the state.
