The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday celebrations.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

“We felicitate with Christians both at home and abroad on the occasion of this year’s Good Friday and Easter celebrations,” Tunji-Ojo said, urging citizens to emulate the virtues of sacrifice, love, and forgiveness demonstrated by Jesus Christ.

He further encouraged Nigerians to use the holiday period to reflect on the significance of the season and to offer prayers for peace, unity, and progress in the nation.

“Let us show love and kindness to one another, especially to the less privileged. These are core values that define us as a people,” the minister added.

Tunji-Ojo also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at achieving national development and sustainable growth.

He concluded by wishing Nigerians a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration.
