Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, inaugurated the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), the members of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission, and the Auditor General of Delta State.
At the inauguration of DESOPADEC Board, the governor urged the members to immediately get to work to plan and execute projects that will uplift our oil-producing communities that still suffer from environmental blight and infrastructure decay.
He said, “There is no time to waste. So far, we have made appreciable progress, however, there is still much that needs to be done. The new board of DESOPADEC and Commissioners must hit the ground running”.
“Additionally, I emphasised that there must be specificity in the planning of all projects — and projects must be conceived based on ‘actual’— not ‘imagined’— needs. Most importantly, the host communities must be involved in the decision-making processes at all times”, he added.
