Lucky Aiyedatiwa officially begins his term as Ondo State governor after his inauguration in Akure.

He was sworn in as the new governor of Ondo State on Monday, February 24, 2025, marking the start of his first full four-year term. The ceremony, held at the Ondo State Sports Complex in the state capital, comes two months after Aiyedatiwa’s victory in the governorship election.

Aiyedatiwa succeeds the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away in 2023. The new governor took his oath of office at 12:59 pm, immediately following his running mate, Olayide Adelami.

“I am deeply honored to serve the people of Ondo State, and I pledge to lead with dedication and integrity,” Aiyedatiwa stated after the ceremony.

Afterward, the governor rode in an open van, greeting a crowd of enthusiastic supporters who cheered for him as he made his way through the complex.

The inauguration marks a new chapter in the leadership of Ondo State as Aiyedatiwa steps into his role as the state’s leader.
