Akwa Ibom Aircraft Accident: State Govt. Calls For Calm

Akwa Ibom State Government has assured the general public that there is no cause for panic concerning the accident which occurred at Execujet, as adequate industry safeguards have been activated in line with global best practices in the aviation sector.

It was reported that there was an accident at Execujet, a private jet hangar and apron in Lagos, where a Global Express aircraft hit the state’s parked aircraft, damaging its nose cone and radar.

According to a press statement by the state Government, entitled: ‘State Aircraft: Accident and Related Matters’ and endorsed by Comrade Ini Ememobong, the state Commissioner for Information & Strategy.

“The accident happened while our jet was parked at its allotted parking point and the Global Express jet was taxiing to its parking point. The pilot and the management of the offending aircraft have earnestly accepted responsibility.

“Consequently, the aviation industry being a highly regulated sector that runs on insurance, the insurers have underwritten the risk and the state plane will be back in use soon.” The commissioner explained.
