The All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in the Saturday Local Government and Councilorship elections across the 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Katsina State, the Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC) announced on Sunday.
The election saw five political parties contesting, including the APC, Accord (A), African Action Congress (AAC), African Development Congress (ADC), and Booth Party (BP). However, APC claimed every chairmanship and councilorship seat with wide margins.
Chairman of KTSIEC, Lawal Faskari, confirmed the outcome, explaining that the compilation of the election results had been delayed due to late submissions from some local governments. “With their submission, we were able to complete the Coalition and make the final announcement,” Faskari said.
He commended the commitment and professionalism of the election staff, stating, “I must acknowledge the dedication of our ad-hoc staff who conducted the election efficiently and within the stipulated time frame.” He also expressed gratitude towards the party chairmen, election observers, and others who supported the process.
In all, APC’s landslide victory marks a decisive win in the state’s local government elections.
