Key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti Central Senatorial District have officially endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the 2026 governorship election.

The endorsement was made during a special senatorial meeting held at Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, attended by prominent party members.

Among the leaders present were Senate Majority Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele; former Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu; Senator Babafemi Ojudu; former commissioner Ronke Okunsanya; and serving House of Representatives members Biodun Omoleye and Sola Fatoba. Other respected party elders and stakeholders from the district also attended.

Senator Bamidele praised the governor for his leadership, highlighting the importance of continuity. “This endorsement shows our commitment to ensuring continued development in Ekiti State,” Bamidele said, commending Oyebanji’s achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, and youth empowerment.

Senator Ojudu also lauded Oyebanji’s unifying efforts, emphasizing the governor’s positive impact on security and peace. “This is the first time since 2003 that people can sleep peacefully without fear. The governor is a unifier with no politically motivated killings under him. His humility is admirable,” Ojudu remarked. He further described the Adire Ekiti Hub as a transformative policy driving economic growth.

Responding to the endorsement, Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the APC members for their unwavering support. “As a native of this district, I pledge to continue working towards reducing poverty and improving infrastructure,” he said.

The governor also acknowledged that while the endorsement signifies full backing for his candidacy, it does not prevent other APC members from contesting. “My deputy and I accept this endorsement with humility. However, this does not prevent any APC member with governorship ambitions from contesting in a fair competition,” he added.

With this endorsement, the stage is set for the 2026 governorship race, with party unity and continued development being key themes highlighted by the leaders.
