The Kaduna State University (KASU) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has expressed its appreciation to Governor Uba Sani for approving land for its Academia Mass Housing Estate Project. This initiative is set to enhance staff welfare while offering civil servants an opportunity to own homes through a rent-to-own/mortgage financing scheme.

In a letter dated January 23, 2025, signed by Gimba Kyari, the president of KASU-ASUU Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, the union commended the governor for his unwavering support. “Your unwavering compassion and commitment to the development of Kaduna State, as well as your dedication to inclusive growth, are evident through this allocation,” the letter stated.

Ibraheem Musa, the chief press secretary to the governor, noted that the estimated cost for each housing unit, including infrastructure, is approximately N42,000,000. However, ASUU has offered a 15% discount, aptly named the “Senator Uba Sani discount,” to cover the cost of the land.

The union further emphasized the governor’s dedication to the people of the state. “Your love and dedication to the masses are beyond question, and we stand as your unwavering partners in progress,” the letter read.

The Academia Mass Housing Estate Project is set to become a sustainable model for mass housing schemes, creating a conducive living environment at an affordable cost. The project will be a collaboration between KASU-ASUU Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, the Kaduna State Government, the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, and the Federal Ministry of Housing.
