A Federal High Court in Abuja has lifted a previous order that stopped actions against suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, allowing the Senate to proceed with her suspension process.

On March 19, 2025, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that the March 4 order, which declared any actions taken during the lawsuit against Natasha as “null and void,” was unclear and lacked specificity.

The Senate’s lawyer, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), argued that the order was too broad and would halt the Senate’s operations, leading to a constitutional crisis.

“The order was vague and indiscriminate, referring to all actions without limitation,” Ojukwu said in court, explaining that it could disrupt the Senate’s legislative duties.

Natasha’s lawyer, Michael Numa (SAN), opposed the ruling, calling the defendants’ request to lift the order an “invitation to anarchy.” He emphasized that the defendants had disobeyed the court’s instructions.

Meanwhile, residents in Kogi Central, particularly from Ihima District, have started the process of recalling Natasha. The recall effort, which spans two days, is gaining momentum across the region’s five local government areas.

However, Abdulrahman Badamasiuyi, a prominent PDP figure, has urged voters in the area to reject the recall attempt, warning them, “Do not sign any form or give any information on your voter’s card to anybody in the guise of any empowerment or some money.”
