Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art investigation room and provided cutting-edge equipment to the Delta State Police Command.
The event, held on Tuesday at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Asaba, is part of efforts to strengthen law enforcement and improve the administration of justice in the state.
Represented by the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that the project is a key component of his administration’s MORE Agenda, which prioritizes security and good governance.
He described the modern investigation room as a vital tool for improving police operations, ensuring transparent and professional investigations in line with the Delta State Administration of Criminal Justice Law.
“The new facility will allow police officers to conduct interrogations, record statements, and carry out investigations more efficiently and transparently,” said Ohwovoriole. He also underscored the importance of a secure environment for the state’s economic growth and stability.
The Executive Secretary of the Delta State Security Trust Fund, Mr. Samuel Osasa, highlighted that the equipment, which includes CCTV cameras, laptops, a finger scanning machine, and more, would greatly enhance crime detection, intelligence gathering, and record management.
Osasa also noted that the provision of these tools would support the prosecution of offenders and improve overall law enforcement capabilities.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, praised the state government’s efforts, noting that the new resources would help keep crime data secure and allow the police to step up their efforts in the face of growing regional security concerns.
This initiative marks a significant leap forward in the modernization of law enforcement in Delta State, reinforcing the government’s commitment to a safe and secure environment for its citizens.
