Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has empowered 2,850 trainees in the third batch of his Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme. The ceremony, held in Yenagoa, also saw the recognition of key stakeholders and past governors in the state.

Governor Diri presented the Honorary Ambassador of Education Award to former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Governor Seriake Dickson, Senator Emmanuel Paulker, and other notable figures in recognition of their contributions to education and development in Bayelsa.

At the event, Diri emphasized the importance of the program, stating, “You are the ones carrying our dreams. Out of 9,000 applicants, you succeeded. You are building yourselves and equally building Bayelsa.”

The beneficiaries of the program, who were trained in skills such as paint making, solar installation, and catering, received starter packs and tools to begin their businesses. Diri urged them to use these skills to enhance their lives and contribute to the state’s growth.
