Following the smooth conduct of the Adamawa State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Bayelsa State Governor, Diri Duoye has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the state congress in the state.
Governor Duoye who served as the returning officer of the congress made the disclosure in Yola while addressing the over 2,614 accredited delegates noting that the party’s constitutional laid down procedures were followed strictly during the election.
Governor Duoye charged the emerged state executives and their followers to ensure that the true democratic tenants exhibited at the concluded congresses are extending in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
He announced that all the thirty-nine (39) candidates were elected and returned unopposed stressing that the action shows that the PDP is one big family and United despite pocket of challenges which according to him are surmountable.
“This shows that PDP is always United as a family to overcome all challenges facing the party amicably”.Douye explained.
Barrister Aliyu Shehu Tahir was returned state chairman after polling 2,422 votes while Mr Stephen Demas was elected Deputy Chairman as Mr Idris Yahaya is the new state secretary of the party.
Other officials elected are Hamza Bello Madagali as Organising Secretary, Susan Gibade as woman leader while Abdullahi Alkali (Dahiru) as the Youth leader among others.
In his acceptance speech, state Chairman, Barrister A.T.Shehu expressed gratitude to the delegates for according him and his team another chance to contribute to building the party promising to carry it all along.
Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Former Governor Boni Haruna and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri were among thousands of supporters of the party that graced the occasion.
