Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has suspended three commissioners for failing to attend an important State Executive Council meeting on Monday without prior permission.
The suspended commissioners include Solomon Azi (Grants and Donor Agencies), Victor Chukwu (Environment), and Ikeuwa Omebe (Rural Development). They will remain suspended for one month.
Jude Okpor, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, confirmed the suspensions, stating, “The governor has issued a strong warning against absenteeism and any lackadaisical attitude towards public service.”
During their suspension, the affected commissioners will be stripped of all privileges associated with their positions. Okpor also emphasized that the governor had directed all contractors handling government projects to accelerate their work, with a stern warning of legal consequences for non-compliance.
