The Ekiti State Government has introduced a Personal Identification Number (PIN) system and reflective jackets for commercial motorcycle operators in a bid to enhance security and regulate their operations.

At the launch on Thursday in Ado Ekiti, Commissioner for Transportation, Kehinde Ajobiewe, explained that the initiative aims to monitor and track the activities of motorcycle and tricycle riders, ensuring accountability while curbing criminal activities associated with unregistered operators.

“The PIN serves as a crucial database for the state government and is visibly displayed on the reflective jackets worn by registered riders,” Ajobiewe stated. “This is not for show but to ensure proper identification and reduce insecurity.”

The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Federal Road Safety Corps Commander, Olusola Joseph, and the Director General of the Homeland Intelligence Agency, Dr. Adetuberu Oludotun.

Ajobiewe further warned that any rider who fails to register and obtain the jacket would face sanctions, emphasizing that the initiative is crucial for the safety of residents. “We have put this measure in place to curb insecurity,” he said, urging all operators to comply with the directive.
