The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has successfully restored electricity to the Odo Ayedun Ekiti community after years of enduring blackouts, a move that has revitalized local businesses and bolstered the economy.

In a heartfelt commendation, Oba Solomon Ilesanmi Ajibade, the Owa of Odo Ayedun Ekiti, thanked Aribasoye for his timely intervention. “On behalf of the good people of Odo Ayedun, we express our heartfelt gratitude and deepest appreciation for your timely intervention…this selfless act is a demonstration of your dedication to service delivery,” the monarch stated in a letter dated February 25, 2025.

The Speaker’s efforts involved repairing two faulty transformers, replacing armoured cables, and supplying transformer oil to the community, ensuring a steady power supply.

Aribasoye emphasized that the restored electricity would boost local businesses, particularly Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“No community can witness growth when artisans and business owners are closing shops permanently due to lack of electricity,” he remarked.

Aribasoye also praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for reconnecting 41 Ekiti communities to the national grid, marking a significant stride in rural development. “Without electricity, there won’t be job or wealth creation,” he stated, highlighting the governor’s commitment to rural electrification.

The restoration of electricity is expected to revive local commerce, improve security, and create job opportunities for the residents.
