Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha on Tuesday, inaugurated Interim Management Committees for the 27 Local Government Areas of the State.
The appointment of the Committee members takes immediate effect according to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Chibuike Onyeukwu.
The Imo governor had earlier suspended all elected Chairmen and Councillors in line with the recommendations of the state House of Assembly.
Meanwhile, three lawmakers elected on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance on Tuesday defected to People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
The lawmakers, Chyna Iwuanyanwu (Nwangele), Chidi Ogbunikpa (Okigwe) and Onyemaechi Njoku (Ihitte Uboma), state constituencies, said that their defection was to enable them to serve their constituents better.
The speaker, Chiji Collins, read their separate letters of defections during the plenaries.
The defection of the three lawmakers meant that APGA now has just one seat in House of Assembly.
