A former lawmaker, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on the federal government to immediately release monthly allocations to the reinstated Osun State local government executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Monday, Oyintiloye, who previously represented Obokun State Constituency, criticized the recent local government election conducted by the state government, describing it as a “waste of taxpayers’ money.”
The ex-lawmaker emphasized that the Appeal Court had already reinstated the sacked APC council chairmen and argued that the election was illegal. “The state government will be held accountable for the resources spent on the election,” Oyintiloye stated.
He urged the federal government to begin releasing funds to the reinstated chairmen to enable them to fast-track grassroots development, which had been neglected since their removal in 2022.
“The timely release of allocations will allow the chairmen to implement developmental projects effectively, even with less than nine months remaining in their tenure,” he added.
Oyintiloye also commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his professionalism in handling security matters and preventing abuses of power in the state.
He concluded by appealing to the federal government to begin releasing the monthly allocations as early as this month.
“I want to appeal to the federal government to start releasing the monthly allocation to the APC reinstated council chairmen in the state this month,” he said.
