The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, announced that the FCT Administration has successfully implemented 90% of its N1.1 trillion 2024 budget. Wike made this declaration during an inspection of ongoing projects in Abuja on Thursday.
Among the inspected projects were the construction of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, road networks, and renovations at the International Conference Centre (ICC).
Wike also reviewed the progress of two key interchanges: one at Ahmadu Bello Way connecting Wole Soyinka Way and another linking Wole Soyinka Way to Murtala Mohammed Expressway.
“These ongoing projects are part of the 2024 budget, which has been extended for completion until June 2025,” Wike explained. “We are also incorporating new projects into the 2025 FCT budget, which will be presented by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly for approval.”
The Minister expressed confidence that the ICC renovation would be completed by late April or early May, while the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal is set to be completed by September.
Wike added, “We have also agreed with Gilmor, the contractor for the two interchanges, that the project will be ready for inauguration in celebration of the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration.”
The Minister further emphasized the government’s commitment to timely payments to contractors to ensure on-time project completion: “The contractors are doing well, and we are up to date on our payments, so there is no excuse for delays in delivery.”
