The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved 13 new contracts worth a total of N660 billion, focusing on critical road infrastructure and health projects across Nigeria. The approval came after a meeting at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja on March 5, 2025, led by President Bola Tinubu.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, outlined several major projects, including the rescoping and rehabilitation of the Alkaleri-Ukuk Road in Bauchi State, with a contract value of N11.28 billion.
“The adjustments are part of a broader plan to allocate resources strategically, ensuring that available funds are used effectively to complete sections of ongoing projects,” Umahi said.
Among the notable projects is the construction of a new road spanning across Kaduna and Katsina States, worth N198 billion. Additionally, phase one of the Bida-Lambatta Road in Niger State will cost N39.49 billion.
In the health sector, the FEC approved N10.3 billion to procure third-line antiretroviral drugs for HIV patients, as well as locally manufactured diabetes diagnostic kits.
“These approvals ensure uninterrupted treatment for Nigerians living with HIV/AIDS and enhance domestic healthcare production,” said the Minister of Health, Prof. Ali Pate.
The approvals also include N4.5 billion for essential medications such as antibiotics and antihypertensives, aimed at supporting Nigeria’s most vulnerable populations.
The decisions made during the meeting reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to improving critical infrastructure and health services across the country.
