Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed his earlier directive to revoke government land illegally occupied or encroached upon by individuals and organizations, stressing that the enforcement will be carried out.
Governor Fintiri made this statement during an inspection of government facilities and ongoing projects across the state. Responding to journalists’ questions after visiting the State Agricultural Mechanization Authority office in Yola, he expressed frustration over the illegal occupation of land that belongs to the government.
“We will either convert these lands to government property or remove them completely and put up structures that will look like an office where our youth, who will be employed, will work,” Fintiri said. “This action is necessary to protect government assets and ensure they serve the public.”
The Governor’s resolve comes after he first announced the revocation of all government-owned land and facilities in 2019, which had been illegally occupied or encroached upon. He emphasized that the land was meant to foster job opportunities for the youth, but has instead been hijacked by selfish individuals for personal use.
“I am out because, in 2019, I revoked this land, and now people have taken it upon themselves again to go ahead and forcefully develop these lands,” Fintiri added, condemning the unlawful activities.
During the inspection, Fintiri also visited the state-of-the-art laboratory complex at the State Specialist Hospital, the Adamawa State Health Supplies Management Agency, and a model
