Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has given all revenue-generating ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) a marching order to generate an annual Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target of N120 billion.

Bago gave the order when he presided over the enlarged inaugural State Executive Council (SEC) meeting at the Council Chamber, Government House, Minna.

He stated:”All the revenue-generating MDAs should redouble their efforts to make sure the monthly target of N10 billion is achieved.”

He argued that for the current administration to deliver dividends of democracy to the citizens, things must be done differently and rightly.

Bago, who said “any file will not last 24 hours on my table,” urged government officials to follow suit.

He avowed that his administration would be deliberate in its policies and ensure it invested in agricultural equipment to turn around the fortunes of the state.

The governor also suspended mining activities in the state to allow miners to be profiled, as his administration would not condone illegalities.

He urged SEC members to remember their oath of office, tasking them to be accessible and responsibly discharge their duties without overlapping, adding that council meetings will now be conducted via Zoom between 8 am and noon every Wednesday.

Gov Bago also asked members at the meeting to come up with supplementary budgets for their MDAs, insisting that his administration would work strictly within the state budget.
