The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Taraba State, said Governor Agbu Kefas, has the prerogative to appoint who he wishes.
The party leadership made this known on Saturday through its spokesperson, Andetarang Irammae while reacting to complaints emanating from the recent appointments made by the governor.
The list of PDP faithful to serve as Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Community Special Assistants and Heads and Members of Boards, Commissions and Agencies, was recently made public by the governor.
Some of the party’s loyalists who are not comfortable with the position of the governor expressed concern over some of the names included in the lists.
Addressing their fears, the leadership of the party, during an interactive session with journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, urged the aggrieved members to remain calm.
“All the appointees are members of our party and are persons with great pedigree in politics and governance and they are expected to bring their wealth of experience for the good governance and development of the state.” Said Irammae.
Stating that there is an interface between the party leadership and officials of government to address the genuine concerns of the party faithful and called for patience from members.
He urged the party’s faithful to tread with caution and not overheat the system over Governor Agbu Kefas’ recent appointments, saying the governor has the prerogative right to appoint whosoever he wishes.
Irammae who was of the view that the party in the state has membership across the nooks and crannies of Taraba, said everyone cannot be appointed to political positions at the same time.
Adding, “It has to be this one today and tomorrow another person, I will just appeal that people who are not comfortable with the appointment, should remain calm and be supportive of the government.
