Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has commended the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps over security measures taken to protect farmers and herders in the country.

The governor, who gave this commendation while on a courtesy visit to the NSCDC Commandant-General, Abdullahi Muhammadu, in Abuja, urged the agency to deploy additional 250 agro rangers personnel in the state towards improving the state’s security.

The media aide to the CG, Gbenga Ekunola, explained in a statement on Wednesday, that the governor noted that the deployment “will further ensure the safety of farmers who are the backbone of the state and the South-West in general.”

The governor noted the NSCDC’s efforts towards supporting the state government to actualise its commitment to peace and security.

Makinde said the dispatch of additional rangers would further strengthen the security situation in the state and encourage farmers to focus on their farming activities without fear of attacks.

In his response, the CG congratulated the governor for his efforts in bringing peace to the state and promised that the NSCDC would continue to support the state peace initiative.
