The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has debunked viral reports claiming he approved the recruitment of 10,000 personnel into the state civil service.
In a statement released Thursday by the acting Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. Inyingi Brown, the reports were described as “false and misleading,” with a call for the public to disregard them.
“We wish to categorically inform the people of Rivers State and the general public to ignore the fake announcement,” Brown said. “Appropriate information will be released by the Rivers State Civil Service Commission when it falls due.”
The fake report, which circulated widely on social media, falsely attributed the recruitment approval to the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika. It also falsely claimed an application portal would open by midnight on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Brown emphasized that no such approval had been granted and cautioned residents against falling for fraudulent announcements. “Any official communication on civil service employment would come directly from the relevant state agencies and not through unverified online platforms,” she added.
The state government reiterated its commitment to transparency and due process in employment matters.
