The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has approved the appointment of a new Chairman and members for the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
In an official announcement made on Wednesday, Prof. Ibibia Worika, Secretary to the Rivers State Government, confirmed that Dr. Micheal Ekpai Odey will serve as the new Chairman, supported by six other members, including four professors.
The appointments take effect from Monday, April 7, 2025, marking a new chapter in the state’s electoral body. The full list of appointees includes:

The announcement follows the suspension of all heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state, including the RSIEC, previously led by Justice Adolphus Enebeli (retd.).
In the statement, Prof. Worika emphasized that the new appointments are set to bring a fresh direction to the commission, which plays a critical role in the electoral processes of the state.
Ibas’s recent leadership changes aim to strengthen governance and ensure a transparent electoral process in Rivers State.
