Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has emphasized his commitment to good governance, asserting that he is not in competition with anyone.

His statement came in response to comments made by Bishop Matthew Kukah of Sokoto Diocese during a thanksgiving mass marking Soludo’s three years in office at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Awka on Sunday.

Bishop Kukah praised Soludo’s leadership and the progress made in the state but urged the governor to avoid comparisons with other leaders, highlighting that governance is about “consolidation, not competition.”

In his reply, Soludo affirmed, “My Lord Bishop, we are not in competition with anyone. What we are doing is to improve on what the past governors have done, not to compete with them.”

The governor stressed that his focus remains on advancing infrastructure, education, and the economy in the state, rather than engaging in rivalry with past administrations.

Soludo further elaborated, “We are contesting against the revolution going around the world… Anambra has all it takes to achieve the Taiwan-Dubai dream.”

He pointed to significant accomplishments, including the employment of over 8,000 teachers, infrastructure improvements, and the creation of a more secure environment in the state.

Addressing ongoing challenges like insecurity, Soludo vowed to tackle its root causes and continue making Anambra a prosperous, crime-free state. “If you know any criminal anywhere, just whisper to us, and we will come and pick them,” he declared.

Soludo’s administration has made notable strides in reducing government spending, focusing on more efficient use of resources while improving critical sectors like education and health.
