Imo: Gov. Uzodimma Commiserates With Victims Of Izombe Violence, Pledges To Reconstruct Damaged Houses

Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma has expressed deep saddeness at the gory sight of destroyed properties and the lost lives of innocent citizens of Izombe Community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State during his visit in the community.

The Governor disclosed that during the wake of the crisis, calling on the military to sheathe their sword and allow the innocents to enjoy their peace while the Government intervenes.

The Governor accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Professor Placid Njoku, the Deputy Speaker, Imo House of Assembly, Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, representative of Service Chiefs and other Government officials, interacted with the Traditional Rulers and the good people of Izombe Community engaged in a peace talk at the “Palace Of Peace” with the Traditional Rulers of the Izombe Community where he condemned the unjust and criminal acts in the Community. “I admonished the Youths of Izombe from taking to arms as a means of livelihood let alone attacking constituted authorities,” Uzodimma stated.

The Governor called on the affected people of Izombe to return, promising to rebuild all that was lost during the course of the crises.

“In few days to come, I shall constitute a bilateral committee that would comprise of Government Officials and the Leadership of the Community to fashion out modalities to commence a project “rebuild Izombe” and offer compensation to the affected homes.” Uzodimma Stated.
